A strong connection - KOSTAL will become a core member in the Charging Interface Initiative CharIN e.V.

For more than 90 years, KOSTAL has been driving the automobile world with innovations such as the headlights, the rain sensor, the anti-trap system for window lifters or the first automatic emergency braking function based on a monocamera. Since 2010, KOSTAL Automobil Elektrik has been developing electronic chargers for battery-powered vehicles and plug-in hybrids and has been producing variants of 3.6 kW to 22 kW charging capacity since 2013.

Together with the subsidiaries KOSTAL Kontaktsysteme and KOSTAL Industrie Elektrik, KOSTAL offers system solutions for chargers inside and outside the car. E-mobility is of strategic importance to KOSTAL, so that platform concepts and standardizations are of central importance. CharIN has been a successful player since its inception. Through its membership KOSTAL aims to promote the association's demand for standardization and to contribute to its dissemination.

"A decisive reason for the consumer's low level of consumer acceptance when purchasing an electric vehicle is certainly a non-nationwide and non-standardized network of charging stations. It is therefore all the more important for CharIN's commitment to work towards such a network and the related standards, and in cooperation with almost all leading companies in the field of electric mobility. KOSTAL will, with its technological competence and its innovative strength over decades, together with members of CharIN, contribute to the development and implementation of uniform standards for load systems", explains Detlev Kramer, Head of Development at the Dortmund plant.
